Statement of Support for ECCV’s All One Together campaign
Darebin City Council is proud to become an All One Together Campaign Ambassador. We strongly support the campaign’s focus on tackling racism as one of its key current priorities.
Darebin City Council aspires to be a community for all, a fair city, where everyone can thrive and belong. We work towards a discrimination-free Darebin and seek to reduce the impact of poverty and disadvantage.
Darebin City Council has long-standing commitment to social justice, standing up against discrimination in all its forms, and responding equitably to the diverse needs and aspirations of our community.
We strongly believe that all people, in their diversity, should have fair and equitable access to opportunities, services and information. All people should have a say in the decisions that affect them, recognising that we are all better off when everyone is able to contribute and be heard.
Our Equity, Inclusion and Human Rights Framework 2019-2029 (Towards Equality) puts equity, inclusion and human rights at the heart of all our work and helps us, in partnership with the community, local agencies and organisations, to build a stronger, healthier and happier community where everyone is welcomed, valued and respected.
As a Welcoming City and Refugee Welcome Zone Leadership Council, Darebin City Council has a strong commitment to:
- Support people of all backgrounds to have equal opportunities to belong, contribute and partcipate in social, cultural, economic and civic life ensuring that we are welcoming and inclusive of new communities.
- Advocate for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers across a number of platforms.
- Reduce racism and discrimination.
