Statement of Support for ECCV’s All One Together campaign

We recognise that we sit on the land of our First Nations people and on whose ancestral lands we play football and acknowledge the deep knowledge embedded within the Aboriginal community and their ownership of Country.

It is our privilege to join with the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV) in this important All One Together campaign. We are living in challenging times and just as in football, working together will benefit us all.

A key feature of Football in Victoria is our cultural diversity – within our organisation and extending out to our broader football community. Football Victoria’s cultural diversity is something we are proud of and an organisational strength. We pride ourselves on our rich history, our multicultural past and look to nurture that out to our most recent migrants who have settled in Victoria.

Our agenda is to support the growth and development of our game through our strategic plan, FootbALLways – announced during 2019. The plan is about uniting, inspiring and enabling Victorians of all backgrounds and abilities to live and love football, for life.

We know that this will only occur if we can have a harmonious cohesive community where respect, inclusion, and social cohesion flourishes. That is why we are very supportive of the ECCV and the All One Together Campaign and congratulate the ECCV on their leadership with this and other initiatives.

We want to provide the best opportunities for all Victorians to access and enjoy football programs, competitions, and pathways. Promoting our game is about Football for ALL – to increase our engagement and advocacy of football, and to change perceptions and promote positive outcomes.

We remain committed to making football accessible to as many people as possible, thereby increasing participation at all levels of the sport, particularly among women and girls and those from our many multicultural communities showcasing the true diversity of our game.
