Statement of Support for ECCV’s All One Together campaign
Moray & Agnew is a leading national law firm with a distinctive approach underpinned by a strong sense of social responsibility. We’re proud to join the ECCV as a Campaign Ambassador on this important campaign, All One Together, to reinforce our proactive stance against racism and discrimination and our focus on promoting positive actions in our workplace and beyond.
We take our responsibility as a strong Corporate citizen seriously. A number of our partners are involved with community based organisations that work with diverse ethnic groups. As such, we provide pro bono legal advice to the ECCV to offer legal support in the areas of employee relations, governance and contracts. Our commitment also extends to supporting clients. Last year for example we provided training to our Government clients on their Obligations under the Victorian Racial and Religious Tolerance Act and the Multicultural Victoria Act and we will continue with this initiative.
We are a signatory to “The National Aspirational Pro Bono Target”, and as well as those we support in Victoria, we provide pro bono legal services across the country, which represent hundreds of thousands of dollars every year in donated services to assist disadvantaged sectors of our society. Our achievements are best measured as the provision of significant legal advice to various community organisations to ensure individuals who may not otherwise attain access to justice are fully informed and properly represented in matters impacting them that require legal input.
Diversity in our workforce is also a key priority for Moray & Agnew and we have a deep commitment to demonstrating, in every way possible, that we are an equal opportunity employer, our policies and procedures are designed to encourage and ensure the workplace is free from all forms of discrimination and to harness the benefits of diversity. In line with the multicultural nature of the wider Australian society, diversity is reflected in our own workforce. We have employees who speak over 33 different languages. We profile this wonderful collection of diversity and learn and enrich all that we do as a result.
In addition, we strongly support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and clients. We provide Acknowledgement of Country at events, we are working on a Reconciliation Action Plan and are observing Sorry Business and other culturally appropriate support mechanisms within our workforce. Our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy reinforces our commitment to creating an environment which recognises and values differences while creating a culture of teamwork, trust and mutual respect.
