Statement of Support for ECCV’s All One Together campaign

At Yarra Valley Water, we celebrate cultural diversity and inclusion as part of our commitment to support thriving communities.

We proudly acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s First Peoples and the Traditional Custodians of the land and water on which we rely and operate. We pay our deepest respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We also celebrate the rich diversity of heritage, culture and connections in the communities that we serve across Melbourne.

We’re proud to join All One Together to reinforce our proactive stance against racism and help create a kinder and safer society for everyone.

Adding our voice to this campaign reinforces our efforts to pursue reconciliation, raise cultural awareness among staff and build respectful, enduring and proactive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We’re also focused on creating stronger community connections with culturally and linguistically diverse communities as we continue to expand our cultural understanding and drive new levels of engagement. Consulting and collaborating with customers from diverse backgrounds to identify how we can be more responsive to their needs and ensure that our services are inclusive and accessible is central to this commitment.

We are committed to ensuring we have a diverse workforce and provide fair employment opportunities to all. As part of our All One Together pledge, we commit to continue Aboriginal cultural awareness training and introduce a new course for customer-facing staff to raise awareness of systemic racism facing many migrants, including refugees and asylum seekers.

We’ll also celebrate Refugee Week with activities including guest speakers who will talk about the impact of racism in our community and help our people learn more about the challenges facing newly arrived Australians.

Together, through positive action, we will help make a difference as we tackle the scourge of racism.
